What Does 2017 Hold For You?

What will 2017 Hold for you?

As 2016 comes to an end, I can’t help but wonder what 2017 will hold for those dear to me.

Here is one thing for sure: As many will make their New Year’s Resolutions, as one does at the end of each year, I will not be.

Why?

Because every time, I create those yearly New Year goals, the true commitment is just not there. The way I see it, why wait till the New Year to make your goals, when you can just do it (and commit to it) throughout the year?

I see those New Year’s Resolutions as an excuse to make yourself feel better and start fresh at the beginning of year and then by the summer months, those so-called Resolutions are forgotten about.

Can anyone relate?

Instead of creating New Year’s Resolutions that I know I won’t commit to, I am going to set myself up and make the best out of each opportunity God has blessed me with throughout the year.

Not just for a season.

Opportunities such as: clients, new friendships, profound memories, new and exciting ventures and many more. These opportunities are the greatest blessings one can ever have and will make an incredible difference far more throughout the year then choosing a generic resolution, that, by the end of the year, will most likely be at the back of your mind and forgotten about.

Of course, this is just my two cents on this.

Don’t get me wrong.

I will still create goals for myself and my future, but they won’t be as generic as losing weight or quitting smoking, which both tend to be a very popular Resolution amongst many I know.

Just to give you an idea of what I mean, I am honored to share some of my goals with you. Perhaps they will spark up an idea or inspire you in some way:

  • Ridding myself of toxicity. I spent many years in the environment of those who make it their subconscious mission to bring me down. Anything you say or any goals that you make are simply not good enough for them. It is my goal to rid myself of those types of people and surround myself with constant happiness and excitement.
  • Ridding myself of a negative environment. This goes hand in hand with the toxic air. It’s unwanted and it’s not needed. You become sick in it. They say that you start to become like the 5 people that you are around the most. Think about that. If they are all negative and have nothing great to say, get out. You don’t need that in your life. Go in the direction of those that only make you shine…rid yourself of those who only want to dull your sparkle. You deserve better.
  • Believing in myself more. Believe it or not, out of everybody in your life, you are your own worst critic. Nothing is good enough for you. Believe in your talents and your passion more…despite any negativity that may come across your path. Your true happiness lies within. Own it.
  • Less procrastination. This is a big one for me because before, I would always get the ‘Squirrel Syndrome.’ Everything would distract me from any type of project and nothing would get accomplished. I’m sure most of you, if not all of you have been in this same situation. I would just excuse myself and convince myself that I am only multi-tasking. Ha! Now, I come humbly before you, and state that I have gotten better with this, but it could still use some work. Social media, and any other technology, such as TV, tends to be a HUGE generator for procrastination. If your goals don’t have anything to do with media and technology, have the strength to step away from it and truly focus.Keep your eye on the prize.
  • Helping out those in need more often. Sure, I try to help as much as I can with various charitable initiatives, but I’d like to do more. I don’t know about you, but it gives me great pleasure knowing that I helped someone out in their time of need and witness that grateful smile on their face. It’s a wonderful feeling seeing how grateful they truly are. Paying it forward, as one would say. Helping out as many people as I can is what God has instilled in my spirit, therefore I must listen to His word and abide by faith that everything that I do is what God is doing through me. God can only give us the tools, the heart and the spirit…it’s up to us what we choose to do with it and if we choose to listen to His will.
  • Spend more time with my Creator. Did you know that God is the only strength in your life that you should ever have? If you didn’t know that, and your fully dependent on your own strength to get you by, well now you know. I have learned to trust in Him wholeheartedly because He will stay with you, even though those that you once loved in the human form have left you. No matter how many times you reject Him, and try to rely on your own strength, God will always be there. It tends to still be a bit of a learning process for me, but I’ve learned to find my strength and increase my faith by reading His word. No matter how many personal development books or webinars you participate in each day, the Bible is the greatest tool you have at your fingertips. So much wisdom, so much truth and so much strength lies in God’s Word. Your ears, your heart and your spirit must be open to it and the Lord will give you such an unimaginable strength that you never knew you had. But, guess what?!! It’s not you. It’s God’s strength within you. Treasure His love and devotion and don’t take it for granted.
  • Enjoying life. This should be a given, I think, but sometimes, we must all be reminded of what truly matters and the blessings that God has given us. Many tend to take life for granted each and every day of their lives, and it shows in their attitudes and in their hearts. I vow to enjoy life with my family and those who choose to spend their time with me even more so than I already have. I have learned this past year how life is so incredibly short and God can call us home at any moment…why waste the time that you do have on this earth? Enjoy life, enjoy being with those who enjoy being part of your life, remain positive and most of all…make the best out of the situations you have been given. Make the best out of the path that God has led you on and make it your mission to find out why you are on this path. Regardless, you are always blessed to be where you are. Remember that and smile.

2016 has been such a great year for me and those around me. I can only thank God and express my gratitude towards Him because He has allowed me to live another day, another year and another moment.

May 2017 be an even greater year with even more remarkable blessings to come.

What are your goals and vision for the coming year? Please share them with me as I’d love to hear them.

Stay tuned for my next article, where I will discuss some tips that I have learned along the way as a woman in business and to not settle for anything that may come your way and to strive to be an even greater version of yourself. Perhaps they will help you and offer you something to think about as we start fresh in 2017.

May God Bless you, your family and your loved ones. Happy New Year!
